Today is our 57th wedding anniversary. I have been blessed to live with my wonderful, sometimes wacky husband all that time. We have lived in so many different houses, I have to sit down and count on my fingers and toes to be sure I don’t miss one. Back in the days of address books, we had a reputation for having the thickest page due to repeated application of White-out. And that was before we retired and started traveling full time!
Adventures of all types have come our way. Tent camping all the way to California and back twice. Hiking to Dome Rock and crossing the stream every way imaginable, even taking off our boots and wading. Driving on mountain roads that were barely wide enough for our vehicle and crossing railroad trestles on the mountainside not once but twice. Probably the most memorable for me was hiking the Barr Trail up Pikes Peak…and down! I still marvel when I see Pikes Peak (I call it MY mountain) that we actually climbed it, along with our two kids, 11 and almost 14.
We’ve had real joys and accomplishments, but we’ve also had our share of heartaches and pain. The one constant besides our love for each other has been our love for and faith in a loving God. He has been with us through it all and we are reminded daily of how much he cares.
I am blessed to still be up for whatever adventure comes next, as long as LeRoy is there to open my car door and dry the dishes I wash. I love you, LeRoy! Let’s see what God has for us next.
