BIG news

When we are sitting still, I am quite often not inspired to write a blog. Who wants to know that we did laundry or bought groceries or went to church? Everyone does those things, not just people who happen to live in an RV. This week, however, I have big announcements to make.

First announcement:

Baby girl Compton was expected in mid-May, but Jordan’s babies seem to want to make dramatic entrances! Sara June, our second great-granddaughter, was born on April 21. She weighed 4 lb. 14 oz., nearly 4 times what her big sister weighed at birth four years ago.

And that’s another bit of news. Rachel, our first great-granddaughter, is a very active and bright 4-year-old as of today! Her comments on Easter leave no doubt that she knows the real meaning of Resurrection Sunday. Where’s Jesus at the tomb? He’s gone! She’s already hiding God’s word in her heart and we’re thrilled to hear her repeat it.

Another announcement: daughter Heidi celebrated a big birthday yesterday, right in between her grandbabies’ birthdays!

Tim just sort of hangs on for dear life when Heidi is on a roll! We got to take her to dinner on Saturday in the middle of her big day being the mom of a high school junior. She helped set up for after-prom, watched the Grand March with us and stayed up all night being a chaperone, then served breakfast Sunday morning at 4:30 am and attended church with us to hear Jadelyn and the other Northridge Friends Youth give as report of their mission trip to Mexico over Spring Break. I think she and Jadelyn both got a well-deserved nap when they got home!

Even with the wind that Kansas threw at us on Saturday, the junior girls had outside pictures taken and they came out great. Jadelyn was a knockout!

I saved our personal announcement for last, but definitely not least. Today we bought a house! Well, we have a signed contract anyway. We sold the Landing on 125th St. last fall and started searching for a place that will be ready for us when we decide to hang up the keys sometime in the future. We’ve been looking since we were here in February, even made several offers, but nothing was accepted until this one. We found a place on the internet that had been on the market less than a day when we looked at it Sunday. By the time we decided to make an offer an hour or so later, our agent found that there were multiple offers already. The listing agent said that they were taking final and best offers by 8 pm last night! This real estate market is insane! We had to have space available on the lot for the motor home, so even though it will take some work to make that happen, we jumped on it. Today, we found out that we won! Closing probably won’t happen until after we leave for Colorado, but these days closing can be done online, as was the contract signing. I’ll let you know more after closing but this is the picture of our new property, within walking distance of Quik Trip, Sonic and our best friends, Johnny and Karen Schmidt. What more could we want?
