We love guests!

In the nearly 10 years since we retired and started traveling, we have visited lots of relatives on the road. A few times since we began wintering in Arizona, friends and relatives have come to see us. In Tucson, we were very close to major interstate highway I-10. Here in Yuma, we are even closer to I-8 and anyone heading towards San Diego from points east is likely to use that route. This week, though, we had guests who deliberately chose to come see us and we loved it!

Larry and Mileta Kinser have come to stay with us several times before, but this time they were in a bigger hurry so our visit was brief. Very enjoyable, but brief. They made it “home” to Fresno safely Thursday.

Friday was Valentine’s Day and my sweet husband bought me my favorite roses. Thanks, sweetheart! We had a lovely dinner with friends at the church and a concert by Cissie and Bill Padgett. It was a lovely way to end a day about love.

My nephew Jim Walter and his wife Nancy have been on an “Aunt Ann(e)” vacation. They flew from their home in cold cloudy Elkhart, IN to San Diego, where the weather is perfect year around, to visit Nancy’s Aunt Ann for a few days. Since Yuma is just about 3 hours away, they decided to come visit Jim’s Aunt Anne while they were in the neighborhood. Our visit was short but very enjoyable. We took them to see the Territorial Prison and Jim even got his mug shot taken, front and side view all in one.

Several years ago we took Jim’s mom (my sister Florence Marie) to visit the prison and have a picture of her in a cell. No such luck with these two, but we did get a picture of the prison itself.

After a ride past the gorgeous fields of lettuce, cauliflower, cabbage etc. that Yuma is known for, we stopped for a date shake at Martha’s Garden. Just one–we shared, since we didn’t want to ruin our appetites for our favorite fish tacos. Do you think they forgot about the cold back home?

We also did a little shopping this week for our trip to Hawaii. While LeRoy probably wouldn’t care about what he wears, I NEEDED new clothes! We just need to finish up a few loose ends, do laundry and pack before we leave Thursday morning. Aloha!
