While family and friends back in the Great Plains are struggling with cold, snow and ice today, here in Tucson we have had rain with temperatures in the high 50s and low 60s. Funny thing is, the pastor said this morning that he hopes the weather won’t make people stay home from the Chili Cookoff this evening!
Speaking of chili, LeRoy made his on Friday and let it set in the refrigerator until this morning to let the flavors combine. Now it’s in the crockpot warming up for the challenge tonight. Maybe it will win the Golden Spoon! The competition is strictly a People’s Choice, so not very objective, but it should be lots of fun.
Several of our Golden Bell volunteer friends are making their way to and through Arizona this month, so we’re trying to make time to see them, sort of a series of mini reunions. This week we met with Kansas friends, Dale and Judy Foster, and Colorado residents Max and Paula Reser. In a couple of weeks, we’ll also see Californians and Arizonans or at least that’s the current plan. We love it when friends visit and get an idea of why we like Arizona so much. Midweek this week, we’ll be on our way to the annual Eagle rally in Quartzsite. Some new folks will be there and some who usually attend will not. It’s always a fun time so we’re looking forward to it.
