Headed for cooler weather

We’ve spent some time in Colorado every summer for years, but this year the cooler weather we’re heading for is in Alaska. Long pants, long sleeves, jackets and lots of layering clothes are now packed into our suitcases awaiting being loaded into the car for our trip beginning before breakfast tomorrow. We’ve been in contact with my cousin Andi and she advised us to bring rain gear as well. It hardly seems possible that by tomorrow afternoon, we will be in Anchorage!

This past week was a big event for the Wichita airport. Not only has the name been changed from Mid-Continent Airport to Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, but the grand opening of the new terminal was this week. The old one will be torn down to make room for more plane traffic, but from what I’ve heard about the new one, the old one won’t be missed. I guess we’ll get our first peek at the inside before 6 a.m. tomorrow. Hope I’m wide enough awake to enjoy it. Our return will be after midnight so it will be on the other end of another long day.

LeRoy still has last minute chores to accomplish today and we have some laundry to be done since we’re going to be gone almost 2 weeks. See you when we can share our travel pictures!

About 2010liberty

Retirement agrees with us! After traveling in our 40' Silver Eagle bus conversion, whose name was Liberty, since 2010, it was time for a change. Now we spend the winter in Yuma, AZ and travel during the spring, summer and fall setting the Pace!

Wow! Alaska! So exciting and fun! I am from Juneau, AK originally! I might be biased a little but it is truly a beautiful place! Enjoy your time there! Will the two of you be at Golden Bell at all this summer? Joey and I will be up for the Chapel dedication at the end of this month, as well as a potential second visit at the end of July. It would be great to see you both, if we can! Blessings,
