Lazy Sunday afternoon

Yesterday was an unusual day in the desert. We woke to sun on one side of the bus, dark clouds on the  other. Before long, the mountains were hidden and playing peek-a-boo with us. Now you see it, now you don’t! It rained off and on, mostly on, until early afternoon and even though the sun came out, temperatures didn’t climb. The morning started off about 58 degrees and that was the day’s high. Even half an inch of rain is significant in the desert, so we just enjoyed staying warm and dry. Florence Marie, however, may have stayed warm but not particularly dry. She hardly had pans and dishes enough to collect the water from the numerous leaks in her RV. Someone, and I’m guessing it won’t be her (or me) will have to get up on a ladder and check out where the water might be coming in. As always, though, the dilemma is that it doesn’t leak unless it’s raining!

Today the sun is shining brightly and a sweater is a good accessory. We walked around the building to attend worship with our Tucson church family and enjoy fellowship with them. We are a mostly over 55 crowd but the younger age group is growing and we’re glad for that.

This morning we looked out the window just before church time and saw a whole pack of coyotes trotting down the dirt road beside the parking lot. There were 7 of them in all, with one really large one bringing up the rear, trying to stay hidden in the brush up the hill. We figured she was probably the mom trying to give the kiddos the feeling of freedom while still keeping an eye out for their safety. Parenting isn’t so different in the animal kingdom, is it?

We still have some shopping and mailing to do this week and that could be tricky. I haven’t a clue what to get LeRoy! Any suggestions?
