While we were in Branson with our Eagle bus friends, we learned that one of the group members was on life support and early this week, we learned about his passing. Jerry “Jeff” Jefferson had a business that supplied Eagle parts and because of that, he was one of the few members that we dealt with outside of rallies. Jeff was just a few years older than we are but had been fighting for breath for as long as we’ve known him. He did not, however, let his oxygen dependency define him. He drove a Hummer III and when we took a desert trail ride with a group outside of Quartzsite one year, he went along. He was fearless! He and his wife Shirley provided donuts each morning of all our rallies.
Shirley is also a bright spot in any group, and you can spot her because, well, I’ve never seen her in any color other than purple. We attended Jeff’s memorial service yesterday along with 6 other Eagle couples from 6 states. There was even one Eagle bus in the parking lot. What a tribute to a fine Christian friend!
We will miss you, Jeff. Oh yes, and next rally we’ll eat a donut in your honor!
