Time seems to pass so quickly when you’re having fun and boy, are we having fun! Our days this year are quite different from those in the past several winters when we were in an active RV park. This year, parked behind Northwest Community Friends Church, we’re much more involved in church activities. At least once a week, I help out in the office for an hour or two, fixing spreadsheets and working on the newsletter. It’s kind of fun to be involved in computer “stuff” other than my own! LeRoy painted and hung two cabinets in one of the Sunday school rooms and we’ll both help out when the church gets ready for the annual rumm-aj sale (that’s the upscale version of rummage for the uninformed). I also moderate a women’s Bible study group once a week and LeRoy attends a men’s breakfast on Thursday.
To keep ourselves active, we’ve joined a gym and try to make it about three days a week. I’m working muscles I didn’t know I had! I can see progress there, adding weight and reps to each machine since our start point. And I’m walking faster on the treadmill, too. My beginning speed feels pretty slow now, almost like a cooldown! We haven’t done any hiking this season but we are scheduled for an ATV trip on Tuesday with the group from Mountain View RV Park in Huachuca City. We’ve gone with them twice before and it’s always enjoyable.
If I remember correctly, the last time I wrote we had not yet diagnosed the problem with the generator. It had a bad piston and will require a rebuild but it is not yet complete although the generator is at the shop and we are not! That’s the good news. The bad news is it won’t be cheap, but it will be fixed. We’re fortunate that we are plugged in and don’t need it until we get ready to go home.
We had visitors a couple of weeks ago, Jack and Betty Bernritter from Havensville, KS, good friends of ours from Eagles International. It felt good to have another bus parked next to us for a few days. Jack celebrated his 80th birthday that week and we all went to a little steakhouse out in the boonies called Fred’s Arena. The food was good and the company was exceptional.
A week ago yesterday we got together with friends from Arkansas, Phil and Pat Cox. They come to visit her daughter in Green Valley each year and we enjoy getting to see them. This year, we made a trip to Tombstone and Bisbee with them, neither of which they had done before and I’m pretty sure a good time was had by all. They’re headed home tomorrow so I hope the snow and ice are over there for this year.
We also made a trip to Tubac for the Art Festival down there, but we went alone to that. It’s always a fun day, checking out all the booths and enjoying the art pieces for which we have no room. It sure makes telling a vendor “no” a lot easier when you tell them you live in a bus!
There are always so many vendors and such a variety of merchandise for sale, from dog treats to original jewelry and art to hats. (Knowing LeRoy, you can be sure he’s now sporting a new one! But then again, so am I!) The tents just went on and on, one street after another.
A year ago we made a visit to the little spice shop right outside of Tubac where we were introduced to Arizona Seasoned Pepper. It makes eggs and about anything else really yummy. It only comes in tiny little bags and we ran out last year, so we doubled up this time.
I’m really excited that this week my sister Florence Marie is coming to visit for a couple of weeks. We plan to show her OUR Arizona and we’ll try not to wear her out!
