So thankful

Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much for which to be thankful, this year and always.

Added to our normal gratefulness, this year I’m grateful to be out of the transmission shop! I even baked pumpkin bread for each of the mechanics before we left. Yesterday morning they put the transmission on the dyno and everything checked! So they put it back in the bus and took it for a test run. Praise the Lord, this time it passed with good marks and did not self destruct like the last time. Mere moments later, we were out on the road, headed back to our base. Aside from a missed turn, the return was fairly uneventful and now all systems are go again!

This morning after breakfast and coffee, we headed out to meet church friends for touch football, a tradition with these guys. I wisely volunteered to serve as the cheer section but LeRoy played all morning alongside middle schoolers, high schoolers, young adults and even a middle aged dad. At one point they were joined by a stranger who had been doing his morning workout in the park. LeRoy seemed to have a blast and even thinks he’ll be able to get out if bed tomorrow.

Food always plays a big part at Thanksgiving and since this year we chose to celebrate before we left Kansas, we decided not to cook today. Instead we let the good people of Golden Corral cook our turkey and dressing and they did a good job. Besides, it saved me from having leftover pies calling my name!

We have friends and family all over the country who were celebrating in various ways today and I’m thankful for technology that keeps us all connected. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
