Even though my last few blog posts have been from Colorado, we’ve actually been in Missouri for a week today. And despite our fears that we’d be greeted by high temperatures, we’ve been pleasantly surprised by moderate days and cool nights. Either we brought the cooler weather along from Colorado or our hosts put it on to impress us. No matter how it happened, we are enjoying it.
First things first. For the next 6 weeks or so, we are parked on the property of a Bed and Breakfast, Rock Eddy Bluff, a few miles from Dixon, MO. Tom and Kathy Corey, the owners, are going on a well-deserved vacation to points unknown and we are here to provide a presence on the property as well as to feed the dog, cat and hummingbirds…dozens of hummingbirds. In Colorado this summer we hung a hummingbird feeder and we had two or three occasional visitors. Kathy has 4 or 5 feeders and there are half a dozen birds at each one most of the time. She says we’ll be thinking bad thoughts about filling feeders by the time they get home and they haven’t even left yet!
We’ll have pictures of the property next time, but I wanted to clear up any misunderstanding about where we are. Rural Missouri is a pretty place and I’m sure we’ll enjoy our time here.
