While we’ve been here in Kansas, we’ve spent as much time as we could with our daughter Heidi and her family, especially while Alma was here visiting from Georgia. She doesn’t get back this way often, so it was a real treat for all the kids to be together. Last weekend we rented a movie and just lounged around having fun together. Even our “baby” Jadelyn is seven now, growing up more quickly than we would like.
Jordan, our oldest granddaughter, working girl and soon to be a college graduate, got to spend time with us on several occasions. Being with her brings back memories. The first time she ever stayed with us was the summer after her daddy and Heidi were married. She was 6 and we had a tea party. Jordan and I dressed up in old formals and LeRoy amused her by putting his suit jacket on (with his lawnmowing shorts) to serve us. Afterwards we took the film (doesn’t that sound funny now?) to a one hour developing company and went to the park while it was being developed. Jordan and LeRoy played on all the equipment and on the way back to pick up the pictures, she said “Papa, you sure do play good!”. They’re still pretty good buddies although she’d probably rather we’d take her shopping now than to play on the jungle gyms.
Before the crowd split up that evening, we got a picture of the cousins (minus Katrina, who was in Oklahoma) together. Another year will change that picture considerably, I think. Alma is barely taller than Ben now. Give him another year and I think he’ll be gaining on Jordan!
My, where has the time gone? It seems like just last week we arrived here at Liberty’s Landing in late April and now the time has come to make our way to cooler scenery. We’ll be headed to Bristlecone RV Park in Woodland Park, CO on Wednesday. See you on the road!
