And now the time has come

Ready or not, all points east of Arizona–Here we come! The time has come to leave the saguaros and palo verdes behind and head east.

We had planned to leave the Desert Trails RV Park on Friday and park behind the Friends church in northwest Tucson until today, but that didn’t work out. Saturday was the Easter family fest on the church grounds and we were reluctant to take up so much of their parking space. So we stayed put until after church today.

After saying our good-byes to many new friends we’ve made there and Adam and Allie Kemper, the pastors, we loaded up and were about to pull out when a woman drove in to ask about the Jeep. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to sell it, we let her take a test run. She came back to pick up her car but didn’t decide to buy the Jeep. While LeRoy had everything set up so we could hitch the Jeep to Liberty and the new car to the Jeep, I felt more comfortable just driving along behind. After all, Liberty alone is 40′ long and adding 2 vehicles behind would produce leviathan!

We made it to Demming, NM this evening and are parked at Camp Wal-Mart, along with several other RVs. Wal-Mart is very RV friendly and it is really to their benefit. Sometimes it has cost us several hundred dollars to camp there! Tonight, however, we just went in to buy 1 9-volt battery and came out almost $15 poorer. Man shall not live by bread alone, but must have a few cookies to tide him (or her) over while driving.

Tomorrow we’re hoping to see Carlsbad Caverns as we press on to Texas. We had planned to go anyway, but there is a potential buyer for the Jeep who is currently in Texas, we we’re hoping to kill two birds with one stone.

About 2010liberty

Retirement agrees with us! After traveling in our 40' Silver Eagle bus conversion, whose name was Liberty, since 2010, it was time for a change. Now we spend the winter in Yuma, AZ and travel during the spring, summer and fall setting the Pace!

Please don’t kill the purchasing prospect. In this economy a good jeep-buyer is hard to come by.
