And no, it’s not the Power Cat from Kansas State. When we went on the road, people asked us how we could afford to drive Liberty at 6 mpg. And why a 40′ bus instead of a pickup and a fifth-wheel trailer? Well, the pickup would make approximately the same mileage whether or not it was towing and whatever we towed behind the bus would get significantly better mileage than Liberty. We chose a Jeep, which combined the “convertible” I’d been driving with the 4-wheel drive that LeRoy used.
First off, you can’t take the hard top off the Jeep without a place to store it, so we never have. And unfortunately, as fuel prices have increased, 15 mpg wasn’t “significant” enough to suit us! Since we are 10 miles or so from shopping and half an hour from church here, we were filling the tank more than once a week and that adds up in a hurry at any price, especially the current ones. It was time to rethink the tow’d option.
LeRoy found a 2005 PT Cruiser for sale on one of the RV forums and as luck would have it, it was located just north of Tucson. So we went to see it this afternoon. It followed the Jeep home and LeRoy let me keep it!
Now, does anyone know someone who’d like to buy a Jeep?
You look good in that car!
Thanks! My granddaughter likes the color, so does that make me a cool Granne?
Love the new wheels!
Just couldn’t stay away from the convertible, I guess. It’s a manual transmission and that’s kinda fun for a change.
