The weather has improved dramatically, but primarily we’re homebound. Well, RV park-bound at any rate. Yesterday the Jeep radiator called it quits and our appointment to get a new one is Friday morning. Until then, we’re on foot. Since we’re staying at a rural park several miles from Huachuca City, which in itself is pretty limited in opportunities, we’re eating at home and watching TV and surfing the internet for entertainment.
Fortunately, our weekend was much brighter. We ate out a time or two, shopped a little, met Kansas friends for lunch on Sunday and attended a Super Bowl party. Steve and Fran Sigley from Wichita and Fran’s brother Dale Zortman were in the area headed toward the Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson, with a stopover in Bisbee.
The shops in Bisbee hold a lot more interest for our friends than they usually do for us. The difference is knowledge. While I enjoy looking at turquoise jewelry, Fran knows it. She even cuts and polishes her own stones. It’s amazing to look at a stone and know its origin, which area or mine it came from and the characteristics of each. I found some earrings I thought were pretty, but found out the turquoise was from China, not Arizona! I’m sure if our friends made purchases at the show in Tucson, they got the best possible. It really pays to know your stuff!
It’s hard to think about our family and friends back home are shoveling snow and driving on icy roads when we have windows open most afternoons this week. Stay safe, everyone!
So jealous! I don’t think my toes will warm up until April!
Well, i have to say i am sorta jealous!! I love the snow, and everyone knows that, but i having 15″, then 5″ two days later, and almost a foot yesterday…..its too much. Plus we were -22 degrees this morning…….its crazy!! Miss you guys!!
