The Comforts of Home

The outdoor thermometer says 70, a much more desirable temperature for Arizona in February, and there’s a lot of outdoor activity today. It’s mostly sewer and water activity, however. Frozen holding tanks are no laughing matter!

The laundry building is getting a real workout today, too, and that leads me to the title. We chose this park partly because it has laundry facilities, but since the park’s water system was down due to frozen pipes, no laundry was being done this week. When we decided to be fulltimers, LeRoy and I had a discussion about whether or not we wanted a washer/dryer combo. I said no, a laundromat may not be as convenient but it is a lot more efficient. LeRoy thought it would be nice to not have to take everything somewhere else, and besides, pay machines aren’t cheap. Eventually he wore me down and we bought a used Splendide combo from friends before we left Wichita. It lacks about 1″ of fitting in the bathroom and it would have taken up valuable storage space anyway, so LeRoy planned to install it in a bay (where it is now stored, uninstalled). The clincher for me was that 2 towels and a wash cloth are about all one load will handle and the process takes about 2 hours! We can do the whole week’s laundry in 2 hours at a laundromat or onsite laundry room and we meet some really interesting people.

Later today we need to make a grocery run to prepare for the Super Bowl party tomorrow night. Too bad we can’t fast forward through the game and just watch the commercials!

I hope you enjoy the game, I mean, commercials, today! And I hope your laundry woes are soon history! Mom and Dad made it back to Wichita – and I think they are enjyoing watching the snow melt! Go Packers! -Deb
