The Eagles are landing!

The Eagles International rally doesn’t start until Friday, but the Eagles are settling in around us already. I don’t know how excited everyone else is about this rally, but I can hardly wait!

The rally is actually a combined bus rally hosted by the Eagles, so there are some other brands as well. We’re seeing some really pretty buses! I’ve actually only seen the inside of 4 others besides our own ever, so I’ve been looking forward to this gathering, hoping I’ll get a chance to look at what other people have done with theirs.

Eagles have a fairly distinct look and I’m learning to tell which ones are standard width and which are wider, which ones (like ours) have been raised and which have not. LeRoy can tell you the model of most of them! The one parked next to us has a slide out, but most don’t. On some, the paint color goes all the way from top to bottom, but ours and lots of others have shiny aluminum lower sides. In those lower sides are bay doors (basements, if you will) that open in different ways and have different configurations. Some bays go all the way through, some only half way. Some doors open upward while others open out. One friend of ours stores a golf cart in one of his! Entry doors may be at the front or middle side. The original configuration of the driver’s seat was down a step or two from the passenger floor. Remember riding a passenger bus year’s ago? Now, however, some of the conversions are “driver up”, which puts the driver on the same level as the living area and gives a lot more living space than one like ours with the driver down.

We have a roster of all the Eagles Int. members, so now we’ll have a chance to put their names with faces and buses. After we attended our first rally (back when we drove an SOB, short for Some Other Brand), LeRoy would talk about people he’d met by their buses and I didn’t always know which was which. LeRoy also spends more time in the Eagles forums online than I do, so knows people by their forum name. When we introduced ourselves to a new couple a while ago, they said “Oh, you’re Liberty!” When we say that we know Bob and Karen Ward or that we bought Dick and Debbie Bell’s bus, that gives us further connections in this group.

LeRoy just came in to say that we can officially say the party is started…the president is just backing his Eagle in across from us. And I’m wasting precious time on my computer!
