Liberty’s freedom wasn’t free!

Well, we were finally able to spring Liberty from the front end shop. It’s a good thing our lifestyle is valuable to us because it came pretty close to costing an arm and a leg to purchase her freedom. Oh well, at least we can be fairly much assured that the front end won’t fall apart in the middle of our travels somewhere!

We had fun last evening with Heidi and family and we were parked on the street in front of their house for a “quick” getaway this morning. You notice I didn’t say “early”! It felt good to be in our own bed last night. We’ve had comfortable beds at each friend/relatives house, but there’s just nothing quite like our own. We’ve both been fighting congestion and (unrelated) back pain but I think we’re on the mend. Another good night’s sleep and we’ll be ready for just about anything.

On the subject of where we’ve been staying, I have to thank Bob and Karen Ward, Tim and Heidi Pohlman and Johnny and Karen Schmidt for putting up with our additional demands on their time and space. We spent quite a bit of time putting puzzles together, enough that we think it will be a good pasttime while we’re desert camping in the coming weeks. We can only hope the puzzle Karen Ward loaned us is easier to put together than the one we left unfinished on Schmidt’s dining room table!

Tonight we’re in Dalhart, TX and will head on toward Albuquerque tomorrow. The temperature forecast for their weekend isn’t as good as we could hope, but definitely better than the single digits in Wichita’s forecast for the same period! The plan for the days following tomorrow will evolve as we go on, I think. We’re about as flexible as Gumby and don’t have any fixed deadlines until the last part of the month, although we have some want-tos. It just feels good to be on the road again for a while.

About 2010liberty

Retirement agrees with us! After traveling in our 40' Silver Eagle bus conversion, whose name was Liberty, since 2010, it was time for a change. Now we spend the winter in Yuma, AZ and travel during the spring, summer and fall setting the Pace!

Did I hear a few bars of Willie right near the end of the blog?
Where is my straw hat with braids added when I need it?
