And no, this post is not about Christmas shopping. We’re getting ready to head for Kansas tomorrow and the checklist is being marked off already.
Start the trip with clean laundry…check. Put the shampoo and body wash on the floor of the shower…check. Be sure dishes are clean and put away…check. That’s my part for today, but tomorrow will see me tucking small appliances away in cabinets and attaching latches to cabinet and refrigerator doors, removing decorative items and putting computers in their cases. Typically LeRoy takes care of stowing things outside, I take care of the inside.
We’ve learned some things since we started living in Liberty. The biggest one is that anything that’s not tied down should be. The first microwave/convection oven we had tried (unsuccessfully) to fly, necessitating a new one. Refrigerator doors will come open with no help from me if the circumstances are right. Toiletries left on the shower corner shelf will end up on the floor anyway, so we might as well put them there before we start.
Some things we’ve learned from other people’s experience, like being sure the awnings are secured and the electrical plug is disconnected. Be sure the towbar is latched and the security chains are in place. Someone else’s experience is by far the best teacher.
