A month or so ago our internet provider told us that they were no longer going to be providing service/billing and that we would be paying a new company. The e-mail notice indicated that if we wanted to continue service as it was, we need do nothing. BUT we didn’t hear anything from the new company by the deadline and we certainly didn’t want to be out of internet access. So I called the number given and was told that they would have to send us a new device (we’d been using a Verizon aircard) to use in our wireless router. It came in Monday’s mail, along with instructions for installation, activation and return of the old one.
Today was the day to get that accomplished and it went fairly well until the activation phase. No matter how hard or how many times I clicked the “Activation” button, the little whirling circle would come on and then quit. (LeRoy really doesn’t take kindly to my talking to my computer. He’s afraid he’ll be expected to have heard what I said even though I’m mumbling under my breath and saying unkind words to the laptop.) Eventually, after a restart, it did activate and we were back in business. I guess the answer, as usual, was “When in doubt, reboot”. Even computers need a rest sometimes.
Now for a photo quiz. See if you get the same answers we did. The picture below is ?
That’s right, it’s a tree. And this next picture is ?
That’s right, boys and girls. It’s a cell tower. Now this next one is…
a cell tower masquerading as a tree. I think it has a jump start on Halloween!!
